Guy Wan
Chairman of Aqua Gems
Guy Wan holds a BA in Business Administration from the University of San Francisco and an MBA from the American Graduate School of International Management. A key figure in the black pearl industry, he co-founded the Professional Union of Private Black Pearl Producers of Tahiti and has over 20 years of experience managing the Group’s luxury retail boutiques.Guy spearheaded the collaboration with the Qatar Foundation that led to the successful Pearl Farming project in Qatar. He was instrumental in implementing the Total Quality Program in the family’s pearl farming operations and created the Robert Wan brand. He also developed and automated an innovative pearl pricing system integrated into Zoho Creator, revolutionizing valuation processes.As curator of the Robert Wan Pearl Museum, Guy blends cultural stewardship with strategic leadership. He is also deeply involved in managing the family’s real estate portfolio, driving the Group’s continued growth and excellence across diverse sectors.

Guillaume Wan
President of Aqua Gems
With a deep foundation in data analytics and digital strategy, Guillaume Wan brings over a decade of experience in guiding projects to enhance performance and drive sustainable growth. His career spans roles as a Digital Development and Analytics Consultant and as a Lead Implementation Analyst, supporting global marketing initiatives with precise digital measurements.
Guillaume earned a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Business and Accountingfrom the University of Exeter.
As President of Aqua Gems, he leads sustainable advancements in oyster hatchery management and marine ecosystem preservation. Skilled in cross-cultural communication, Guillaume is dedicated to fostering collaborations that align with Aqua Gems’ commitment to excellence and environmental stewardship, ensuring every innovation contributes to a balanced and sustainable future.

Jean-Marc Zanini
Managing Director and Associate Consultant
Jean-Marc Zanini is AquaGem Innovations’ Managing Director, bringing over 25 years of expertise in project management, data strategy, and IT governance. With a Doctorate from the École Pratique des Hautes Études in collaboration with CNRS, his work on French Polynesia’s natural nacre stocks showcases his deep understanding of marine ecosystems. Jean-Marc's background spans biostatistics, agronomy, and marine studies, making him an invaluable asset to AquaGem. Leading a team of experts in aquaculture, biotechnology, and marine biology, Jean-Marc fosters a collaborative environment focused on sustainable and innovative aquaculture solutions. Sylvain Brun
Hatchery Production Manager & Aquaculture Expert
With over 12 years of expertise, Sylvain Brun is a renowned specialist in pearl oyster hatchery management. He has held key roles at Atlas South Sea Pearls in Indonesia and SCA Regahiga Pearls in French Polynesia, mastering every stage of the production process, from broodstock selection to pre-grow-out stages. His innovative techniques have significantly improved survival rates and minimized environmental impact, managing large-scale production sites with teams exceeding 250 employees. Sylvain holds a Master’s in Aquaculture Business Management from INTECHMER (CNAM), along with a Professional Bachelor’s in Aquaculture Management and a BTS in Aquaculture, providing him with a solid blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. At AQUAGEM Innovations, he applies his expertise to promote sustainable pearl production, advancing research and development, refining production methods, and leading teams toward excellence in alignment with AQUAGEM's vision.

Anna Marissal
Anna Marissal, an agricultural engineer and pearl farming expert, is a key member of the AQUA GEM team. Operating from French Polynesia, she brings unparalleled expertise in hatchery management and genetic pearl oyster selection, bolstering our dedication to sustainable, high-quality pearl cultivation.

SINOPED collaborates with top domestic companies to offer advanced detection, identification, and intelligent sorting solutions. Known for innovation, SINOPED delivers AI-driven sorting machines for the pearl industry, using deep learning algorithms for precise sorting of pearls from 1 mm to 16 mm in diameter. This system classifies pearls based on shape, luster, color, and defects, handling both regular and irregular forms. By integrating quality assessment through to final packaging, this high-precision technology ensures consistency and efficiency, providing a streamlined solution for the pearl industry.

Philippe Regal
Expert Pearl Farming Specialist & Operations Leader
With over 22 years of experience, Philippe Regal is a recognized authority in the pearl farming industry, with a strong background at Robert Wan Tahiti Perles and Atlas South Sea Pearls. At Robert Wan, he managed large-scale operations in the Gambier Archipelago, overseeing the collection and cultivation of oysters, and supplying 1.2 million first-operation oysters annually. He also established a state-of-the-art hatchery for Pinctada margaritifera and a cell culture lab for saibo research, advancing scientific knowledge in pearl cultivation. His deep understanding of traditional Tahitian pearl farming practices has earned him respect among industry leaders and government bodies alike.
At Atlas South Sea Pearls, Philippe further demonstrated his leadership by managing a team of 220 at the North Bali production site, where he met ambitious annual targets of 300,000 oysters for seeding. He was pivotal in improving operational efficiency and implementing sustainable farming practices. Philippe's expertise in planning and executing modern farming operations set new benchmarks for the industry. Additionally, as a certified Class B professional diver, qualified for underwater work up to 50 meters, he brings a unique skill set crucial to pearl farming.

Dr. Afiq Durrani Bin Mohd Fahmi, a 2024 Blue Water Heroes finalist, is a distinguished marine biologist and Director of the Sustainable Ocean Alliance (SOA) Malaysia, based at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu. Renowned as an IOC/UNESCO Ocean Literacy expert, he leads impactful initiatives addressing ocean pollution, coastal degradation, and climate resilience. Through programs like MAQIVE and Crisis to Cuisine, Dr. Afiq empowers youth, fosters sustainable aquaculture, and collaborates with communities to safeguard marine ecosystems and promote environmental stewardship. In his role at AquaGem, Dr. Afiq Durrani will drive the company’s applied research initiatives in sustainable aquaculture, focusing particularly on the pearling industry. His work emphasizes innovative hatchery processes, sustainable marine biodiversity management, and adaptable solutions for both local and international applications. Nacera Lagraa
R&D Engineer in Marine Biology Ecophysiology, and Aquaculture
Nacera Lagraa plays a pivotal role as a research and development engineer, bringing her extensive expertise in marine biology, ecophysiology, and aquaculture to the company's innovative projects. With a Master’s degree in Marine and Tropical Aquatic Resources and an Engineering degree in Marine Sciences and Coastal Management, she specializes in microalgae cultivation and optimizing fish and shellfish farming systems. Nacera's skills include improving marine species' growth conditions, monitoring physiological and environmental factors, and developing sustainable resource management practices. Known for her dynamism, reliability, and commitment to environmental protection, Nacera actively contributes to marine conservation initiatives.
